On Tuesday, the Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences of Panama sent DNA samples to Forensic Anthropology for the identification of human remains found on Monday under the bridge over the Changuinola River, in Bocas del Toro. The samples were taken this morning, as due to the condition in which the remains were found, it is impossible to identify the victim in any other way, according to a judicial source. It was yesterday afternoon when residents of the area spotted at the base of one of the bridge pillars a type of sack-like briefcase, inside which were the remains. Disturbed by the macabre discovery, they notified the National Police and the Public Ministry, who were in charge of carrying out the recovery procedure. It is expected that people who have a missing relative in the area will come forward to provide DNA samples, which will be compared with those of the remains to achieve identification.
